History

History

As head of the specialty lubricants division at Conoco and then later as the chief formulator for Tenneco, John Williams was frustrated by the slow adoption of synthetic lubrication technology. In 1958, he founded Pacer Lubricants and helped pioneer the first use of synthetic lubricants in both industrial and commercial applications.

Utilizing his years of experience, John developed a unique additive system called Synerlec® that vastly outperforms traditional lubrication technology employed by major oil companies. With the goal of producing the highest performing lubricants available, John took this additive system, combined it with the best synthetic base oils, and launched Royal Purple Synthetic Lubricants.

The company has enjoyed great success developing specific formulas designed to handle extreme applications – from pumps in offshore rigs in the North Sea to hydraulic equipment in Detroit’s industrial center. Royal Purple® has established a reputation among industrial equipment manufacturers as an oil that improves reliability and reduces operations costs. This reputation is especially strong in severe duty applications.

Since then Royal Purple has also been embraced by the racing industry as engine builders and race teams discovered its unique advantages – specifically engines running Royal Purple oil develop more horsepower and torque, and experience less wear under extreme competitive conditions.

In 1995 Royal Purple created a transportation division - Royal Purple Long Rider – to be the exclusive supplier of LongRider™ UltraTech synthetic oil. This advanced oil is designed to handle the special needs of on- and off-highway diesel engines. Extensively tested in university studies and confirmed every day by trucking companies across North America, LongRider is proven to improve fuel economy while at the same time reduce wear and lower soot and NOx emissions. The extreme chemical stability of Royal Purple oils with Synerlec allow for significant increases in drain intervals, even under tightening emission standards.

Today, Royal Purple is an international supplier and the largest industrial synthetic lubricant manufacturer in the United States. With the company’s state-of-the-art blending plant in Porter, Texas, Royal Purple has established new standards for quality control and lubricant cleanliness. Royal Purple is unmatched in its ability to meet the needs of customers seeking the highest performance from the lubricants they use.

LongRider is proud to offer synthetic lubricants manufactured by Royal Purple to transportation companies and off-highway fleets in North America. For more information please contact us at sales@longrider.com or call 800-820-2713.
